Federal Cabinet Approves Major Salary Increase for Ministers and Advisers

Ministers, state ministers, and advisers to get up to 188% salary hike.

The federal cabinet has approved a big salary increase for federal ministers, ministers of state, and advisers. Their salaries will now rise by up to 188%.

A new bill has been passed to adjust their pay, which was previously set by the 1975 Act governing their salaries and allowances. After the approval, the salary for federal ministers will be Rs 519,000, up from Rs 200,000. Ministers of state will see their salaries increase to Rs 519,000 from Rs 180,000.

The salary hike for federal ministers is 159%, while ministers of state and advisers will see an even bigger raise, up to 188%. This change was approved quickly by the cabinet through circulation.

It’s important to note that these salary increases do not include other benefits, like allowances, vehicles, or office facilities, which are separate from the salary.

The decision to approve this raise was initially planned for the February 4 cabinet meeting but was removed from the agenda to avoid backlash from the public and media.
