27 Terrorists Killed in Jaffar Express Attack as Rescue Operation Continues

Security forces kill 27 terrorists and rescue over 150 hostages in ongoing operation to free passengers of Jaffar Express in Balochistan.

QUETTA – A major rescue operation is ongoing today to free the remaining hostages from the Jaffar Express train in Balochistan. The attack, which took place on Tuesday in the Dhadar area of the Bolan Pass, saw more than 400 passengers, including security personnel, taken hostage by terrorists.

As of now, security forces have killed 27 attackers and rescued 155 civilians, including 53 men, 26 women, and 11 children. The train was on its way from Quetta to Peshawar when it was ambushed. The attackers have since split into smaller groups, with some believed to be carrying explosives.

During the attack, security forces surrounded the train quickly, leading to a fierce gunfight. The terrorists, who are reportedly in contact with handlers in Afghanistan, are using women and children as human shields, making the operation more difficult.

The train was attacked after the assailants bombed the railway tracks and opened fire on the train driver, injuring him. The attack happened as the train passed the Pehro Kunri area in Bolan.

Security forces are proceeding cautiously due to the difficult terrain and the presence of civilians. Mobile services have been shut down in the area, and emergency services are on standby. An emergency has also been declared at Sibbi Hospital.
