YouTuber Rajab Butt Granted Protective Bail Over Alleged Disrespect of Namaz

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has granted seven-day protective bail to popular YouTuber Rajab Butt after a case was registered against him in Karachi for allegedly disrespecting Namaz in a video.

Justice Farooq Haider approved the bail following Rajab Butt’s petition, which sought protection from arrest. Butt expressed his willingness to appear in court in Karachi for legal proceedings but claimed he feared being arrested before he could present his case.

Details of the Case:
The case against Rajab Butt was filed at Karachi’s Hyderi Police Station based on a court order. The complainant, Riaz Ali, accused the YouTuber of disrespecting the Islamic prayer, sparking public outrage. The complainant urged authorities to take strict action to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The controversy began when a video clip surfaced online showing Rajab Butt allegedly disrespecting Namaz, triggering backlash on social media. Following the uproar, Butt issued a public apology and met with prominent religious scholars, including Allama Makhdum Asim, Mufti Ashiq Hussain, and others, to clarify his position.

During these meetings, Butt apologized sincerely and explained that he never intended to offend religious sentiments. He also released a video with the scholars, reiterating his apology and vowing to be more cautious in the future.
