LAHORE – The Punjab Road Safety Authority (PRSA) has announced a new speed limit for motorcycles across the province to improve road safety.
Motorcyclists must now adhere to a maximum speed of 60 km/h, and traffic authorities will take action against violators. The new rule was approved by the provincial cabinet before being officially notified.
Earlier, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari confirmed that motorcycle manufacturers would be instructed to ensure new bikes comply with the speed limit.
In related news, Punjab is set to introduce electric buses, with the first batch of 28 arriving in Lahore within days. Meanwhile, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has started a pilot project to build dedicated lanes for motorcycles and bicycles, with a 4-km stretch from Kalma Chowk to Lahore Bridge under development.
