Karachi: Armaghan, the prime suspect in the Mustafa Amir murder case, was sent to prison on Saturday after he refused to record his confessional statement before a magistrate. The magistrate observed that the suspect was not in a stable condition to give a voluntary confession.
Court’s Decision:
The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) ordered that the suspect be placed in judicial custody, stating that whether a suspect confesses or not, it is mandatory to send them to judicial remand before further proceedings.
The court emphasized the importance of ensuring the suspect’s mental stability before taking any statement.
Case Details:
The 23-year-old victim, Mustafa Amir, was kidnapped and murdered in Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Karachi in January.
Armaghan is accused of disposing of the body and setting the victim’s car on fire in Hub, Balochistan to destroy evidence.
The investigating officer, Inspector Mohammad Ali, filed an application to record Armaghan’s statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
The suspect was presented before the magistrate, but he refused to confess, leading the court to send him to prison on judicial remand.
Investigation Continues:
Law enforcement agencies are gathering further evidence in the case.
Authorities are also investigating whether Armaghan acted alone or had accomplices.
The police are expected to submit a challan (charge sheet) in court after completing their investigation.
