Quetta – A tragic explosion on Quetta’s Double Road left two people dead and 17 others injured, according to Balochistan’s health department.
Health department spokesperson Dr. Waseem Baig confirmed that the injured have been shifted to the trauma center at Civil Hospital for treatment.
Balochistan government’s spokesperson, Shahid Rind, stated that the explosion took place near a police van, and authorities are investigating the cause. A police vehicle was also damaged in the blast, as reported by journalists at the scene.
This incident follows another attack last week, where a roadside bomb targeted a police vehicle on Brewery Road, killing a member of the Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF) and injuring six others.
Rising Security Concerns
Balochistan has been experiencing increased violence in recent months, with militant groups frequently targeting security personnel. The banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has intensified its attacks, aiming at police and military forces.
Pakistan’s Interior Ministry has previously warned about a surge in terrorism following the Afghan Taliban’s takeover in 2021. The country continues to face security threats from various militant groups, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more details emerge.
