A local court in Lahore has sent Imran Khan nephew Shershah, the nephew of former prime minister Imran Khan, to jail on judicial remand after declining a police request for his physical custody. He was produced before the magistrate following his arrest in a recent case.
Judicial remand means the accused stays in jail under the court’s supervision until the next hearing, rather than being held by police for interrogation. The court declined the request for physical remand.
Prosecutors told the court they needed custody to question him further and to recover evidence. Defense lawyers opposed the plea, saying he had cooperated with investigators and that there was no legal basis for police custody. After hearing both sides, the court ordered judicial remand and directed officials to follow due procedure.
ATC Lahore has rejected prosecution’s request for a further physical remand of Shershah Khan. We provided a copy of the same Court in which, on similar facts, Dr Yasmin Rashid was discharged from this case. We will now move his bail.

Prison authorities in Lahore have been informed of the order. Under the law, investigators may seek permission to meet the accused in jail if required, and the defense can file a bail application at a later stage. The next hearing will decide whether the remand is extended, changed, or ended. The case comes amid heightened legal and political activity around Imran Khan and his party, and further updates are expected from official channels.
