PESHAWAR – Pakistan carried out airstrikes in Afghanistan’s Paktika province, targeting a training facility of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The strikes reportedly killed over a dozen militants on Tuesday night.
According to reports, Pakistani jets hit camps in the Murgha and Laman areas, eliminating key TTP figures, including Sher Zaman, Commander Abu Hamza, Akhtar Muhammad, and Umar Media.
While Pakistan’s government and military have not issued any statements, Afghan authorities confirmed the strikes. They claimed, however, that civilians, including children, were among the casualties.
This marks the second such operation this year against TTP hideouts in Afghanistan. The airstrikes occurred as Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq, met Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Kabul to discuss bilateral relations.
Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan remain high, with Islamabad expressing concerns over TTP activities on Afghan soil.
