Justice Mansoor has suggested that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Amir Muqam Gandapur should formally ask the Chief Justice if he wants to arrange a meeting with former Prime Minister Imran Khan. This idea comes after Gandapur publicly expressed a wish to meet Imran, who is currently in legal custody.
The expert explained that directly contacting the Chief Justice can help resolve any confusion about what is allowed under court rules. Since Imran is in jail and under strict court orders, unofficial visits are not permitted. By submitting a formal request, Gandapur would ensure the meeting follows legal procedures.
Gandapur, who is a close political ally of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, had recently said he wanted to visit Imran to talk about national issues and calm political tensions. But with high security at the jail and strict restrictions from the court, arranging a meeting became complicated.
Following the suggestion, Gandapur would now prepare a written request addressed to the Chief Justice. The letter would explain the purpose of the visit, stress respect for legal limits, and ask for official permission. The Chief Justice, along with jail authorities and the court, would then review and decide if the meeting can happen without breaking any rules.
If approved, the meeting could help ease political tensions and open a dialogue between rival leaders. But if the request is denied, Gandapur must follow other legal channels to communicate with Imran.
