Actor Josh Peck recently revealed that the hit show Drake & Josh did not get permission to use Oprah Winfrey’s likeness in one of its most famous episodes. In the episode titled “Josh Runs Into Oprah,” Josh’s character accidentally hits a woman who appears to be Oprah with his car while trying to meet her.
Peck explained that the woman in the scene was actually a stunt double, not Oprah herself. He admitted that, to his knowledge, the producers never got official approval from Oprah or her team to use her image or name in the episode. He even expressed surprise that the show didn’t face legal problems because of it.
Josh joked that if he ever meets Oprah in real life, he would like to apologize for “running her over,” even though it was just part of the script. He also said that the stuntwoman playing Oprah probably realized the risk of pretending to be such a powerful public figure.
The scene became one of the most memorable moments in the show’s history and is still talked about today. Peck’s comments have brought the scene back into the spotlight and raised questions about how TV shows handle the use of celebrity likenesses, especially without direct permission.
