PSL 10 Faces Empty Stands as Fans Boycott Over Pepsi, KFC Sponsorships

Boycott Movement Impacts Stadium Attendance in Karachi Despite Promotional Offers

KARACHI – Pakistan Super League’s 10th edition is struggling to attract fans, as empty seats at the National Stadium Karachi have sparked major concern. The lack of attendance is being linked to an ongoing boycott campaign against PSL sponsors Pepsi and KFC.

The weekday match between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans drew a surprisingly low crowd, with fewer than 3,000 spectators in a stadium built for over 32,000 people.

In some areas, the number of security staff even exceeded the number of fans, leaving cricket veterans like Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis visibly shocked. “It’s disappointing to see this in Karachi, a city that lives and breathes cricket,” Waqar remarked during live commentary.

Despite the poor turnout, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) launched a promotional campaign to boost attendance — offering a chance to win a motorbike through a lucky draw at each match. Fans can participate by scanning a QR code on their match ticket using the official PSL app.

While the match still delivered excitement on the field, the empty stands are a worrying sign for the future of the league.
