LAHORE: Two patients have died, and 15 others have fallen seriously ill after receiving the ‘Ceftrixone’ injection at Mayo Hospital in Lahore. Three of the patients are currently on ventilators.
The hospital administration has confirmed that the use of the injections has been suspended, and a committee has been formed to investigate the incident. The committee will be led by Professor Dr. Asrarul Haq.
Professor Muhammad Haroon Hamedd, the CEO of Mayo Hospital, assured that legal action will be taken against those responsible for the incident.
Reports indicate that the medications recently purchased by the hospital had not been properly tested in the lab. The patients were also not tested before receiving the injection, which might have contributed to the reactions.
This incident comes just days after Punjab’s Chief Minister visited Mayo Hospital, where he ordered the removal of the Medical Superintendent following patient complaints.
