ISTANBUL – A blast at an explosives factory in Karesi, Balikesir, Turkiye, claimed the lives of at least 12 people and injured four others on Tuesday.
Balikesir Governor Ismail Ustaoglu confirmed the incident, stating that there is no evidence of sabotage. The explosion occurred in the section of the factory where capsules are produced, causing the building to collapse. Rescue teams are working at the site.
Turkish Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc announced an investigation into the incident, while Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz expressed condolences over the loss of lives.
The tragedy highlights the need for stricter safety measures in industrial operations.
