Pakistan Army steps up relief and rescue across flood-hit regions

Pakistan Army teams are continuing relief and rescue work in flood-hit areas after heavy rains and rising river levels. Troops are working with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), provincial disaster authorities, and local administrations. The main focus is to save lives, move people to safer places, and deliver urgent help, especially in low-lying and hard-to-reach communities.

Rescue units are using boats and, where needed, helicopters to evacuate stranded families. Field teams are distributing cooked meals, dry rations, clean drinking water, and essential medicines. Medical camps have been set up to treat injuries, water-borne diseases, and other health issues. Engineers are clearing roads, reinforcing embankments, and repairing damaged bridges and culverts to restore access for ambulances and relief trucks.

To reduce the impact of flooding, dewatering pumps are running in urban neighborhoods, while water filtration units provide safe drinking water. Temporary shelters with tents and tarpaulins are being arranged for people who lost their homes. Priority support is being given to children, the elderly, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities. Public awareness teams are sharing safety messages on avoiding flooded areas, switching off electricity in inundated homes, and contacting local helplines for assistance.

With more rain possible in some places, the Army says it has pre-positioned supplies and rapid response teams in high-risk districts. Officials urge residents to follow evacuation notices and cooperate with rescue workers. Relief operations will continue until conditions improve and basic services are restored.
